Named in memory of Ulrico Hoepli (1847-1935), the founder of Hoepli Publishing Company and Hoepli International Bookstore in Milan. One of the greatest publishers of his time, Ulrico Hoepli published several important astronomy works within the 8000 titles the company printed; he was the publisher of G. V. Schiaparelli. Today the company is still managed by the Hoepli family. A city patron and benefactor, in 1930 he donated a planetarium to the city of Milan, among the first in the world.
