The highest mountain in České Středohoří (Czech Central Mountains), Milešovka is located 60 km north of Prague. A meteorological observatory located at the top of the mountain has operated almost continuously since 1905 Jan. 1. The minor planet is named on the occasion of 100 years of observations there.
