Gahberg is a 864-m mountain close to the Alps, located near Weyregg on the lake Attersee. Since 1970, astronomers have used this mountain for observations. In 1988, an observatory was built, by the Astronomischer Arbeitskreis Salzkammergut club. The Gahberg observatory is a center for astrophotography in Europe.
