Danish astrophysicist Jens Martin Knudsen (1930-2005) specialized in Mössbauer spectroscopy of meteorites and the exploration of Mars. Through his enthusiastic teaching and public outreach activities, he has inspired several generations of students and helped establish space exploration on the public agenda.
