Alexei Ilyich Chirikov (1703-1748) was a Russian navigator who in 1741 discovered and reached the coast of Alaska, during the “great Northern Expedition”. He also discovered some of the Aleutian islands and took part in creating a general map of the Russian discoveries in the Pacific Ocean.
