Natalia Leonydivna Shabas (1969-2003), of the Kyiv Shevchenko National University, was an Ukrainian astronomer who studied the physical conditions in the plasma tails of comets 1P/Halley, 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, C/1970 N1 (Abe), C/1982 N1 (Austin) and others. The name was suggested by K. I. Churyumov.
