Hilda Gobbi (1913-1988) was one of Hungary's most recognizable character actresses. She was most often cast as strong-willed matriarchs, both dramatic and comic, and appeared in nearly 100 films and thousands of stage performances. She founded an actors museum and established a retirement home for performers.
