Vitaliy Grygorovych Kruchynenko (b. 1934), professor and doctor of physics and mathematics, is a well-known researcher on meteors and comets. He published 190 scientific publications, including the monograph Meteors and meteor substance. The name was suggested by K. I. Churyumov.
