Named in memory of the German sculptor Georg Kolbe (1877–1947). Kolbe was educated as a painter, but in 1911 he became famous for his bronze figure of the dancer. In 1947 he created the monumental statue of Beethoven {see planet  (1815)} in Frankfurt. (M 30801) _ _.
