Charles-Eugène Delaunay (1816–1872) was a French mathematician and astronomer famous for his Théorie du mouvement de la lune, 1860–1867. Made a member of the Académie des Sciences in 1855, he succeeded Leverrier {see planet  (1997)} as director of the Paris Observatory in 1870. (M 47164) _ _.
