Hartmann von Aue (c.1160–1210) was educated in a cloister and took part in the crusade of Barbarossa {see also planet  (1860)}. He wrote epic works Erec, Iwein and Der arme Heinrich after the model of Chréstien de Troyes. He also created minstrel songs. (M 34356) _ _.
