Plutonic-Uranian Career Advice #4

18 Dec 2014, 04:58 pm

Kilian Eng

Dear PUCA,

I love my job, I (mostly) love the people I work with and I love the industry I work in. As a Piscean with an ascendant in Aries and moon in Scorpio, I don’t take prisoners and I can’t be anyone but me on the job.

The problem is my boss is exceptionally bright (medical degree, never used) and can be amazingly charming. However, he has the emotional range of a toddler. He verbally attacks, belittles, gets visibly angry and even yells. And all in front of everyone in the office. I know the obvious thing to do here is take him aside and explain how this behaviour is super disruptive and, if anything, de-motivating. I’m starting to wonder if this is how abused family members feel.

Bestest always,

Zenduende

Dear Zenduende,

Scorpions have no fearsome mandibles, their Martian helm having been subverted to poison long ago; they can’t feed until their prey is waited for, ambushed, exhausted, subdued, stung, and gooified by venom. That’s not a quick-n-dirty, head-on process. Likewise, be patient.   Your comments regarding his emotional range speak volumes to me about your level of caring for this man. I can literally CTRL-F the words “my boss” and replace with “my child” and the sentences would be no less coherent. Have you assumed a mother role as an unconscious defense mechanism? Is that the only way to ease inside this prickly emotional framework? Check your Mars – natal and by transit (Mystic calls out transits through the signs in the dailies and weeklies). If you are waiting for your cue to sting, and I believe that you are, Scorpio Moon, abide the slow set-up.

Dear PUCA,
I feel under-utilized at my job recently. I’ve made sure to let supervisors know I am available to help if they need it, have taken more initiation with the projects I do have – starting to get more involved with processes I normally don’t (you know, ZZ and all), just trying to stay updated with everything they are doing (Im not in the office every day). Nobody treats me much differently, in fact it’s more *seemingly *positive, more goodwill amongst our group of workers.

I feel with Saturn approaching my Sun and later, 6th, I should be getting slammed with work and responsibility. Things are quite the opposite right now and it worries me.

Elephant-in-the-Room

 Dear Elephant,

Saturn subtracts, rather than adds. My two greatest victories in life manifested while I was double-whammied by Saturn transits to my Sun and then to my Ascendant. Have a cup of chamomile and think that over. Then, go sweep the stairs of dust bunnies. Believe it or not, those are the kind of stodgy, mundane rituals that Saturn’s magic demands. Be the rock, for yourself, and the nervous ones will seek you.

Dear PUCA,

I am a singer with Taurus Rising. The peak of the Zap Zone last year smashed my beloved band family into hospital/rehab/relocation. I think this Venus retrograde year in my solar return has near killed me, severely lacking music, weight gain, lack of self love, naff music videos, foggy inspiration, delay, delay, depression after a total enveloping dream musical tour party and artistic family for the last couple of years (my reason for living). I’m in my 2 year of the 9 year cycle. The planets are my washing machine. I’m up for the zap bleach. What do you see? Thank you :)

Dear 9-Year Spin Cycle,

Did you know that you have a wiggly little gland in your brain with a finite supply of “transcendent moments”? Retrofit your life around treating that gland less like a weapon to be loaded and discharged, and more like a well – to be cared for, relied upon, built around, and drawn upon daily in useful amounts – and always mindful of what may pollute it. You can live the ordinary life. Are you afraid of that? You must manage to live an ordinary life in a non-ordinary way. Taurus flourishes on stability – stabilize the body, the external will follow.

Dear PUCA,
I head  into my 2nd Saturn return. Recently, had a great healing of crushing life-long anxiety, self esteem and domestic abuse stuff. Realized that Pluto square Venus=moving from treatment as property-commodity to valuing self as a precious soul. I’ve always spoken truth to power and accessed high end medical/legal/spiritual aid for others. Other talents, I’m a great writer and communicator, tactful but truthful. I feel overall inadequate because I didn’t finish my degree. Looking to put this all together into a great job description. Healthcare insurance would be great. I lost mine with Obamacare. Friends tell me I should finish school and get an MSW. I’m the last one standing from my family of origin. Thank you Saturn and Pluto! Hah! Great at funerals, condolence calls, bedside transitions. Cancer survivor too- found early and minimal treatment. Thank you Pluto and MRI! Still waiting to figure out what to do when I “grow up”- what is a job description for all of this? I’m a mom of two teens at home and a college freshman. Married in name and sticking it out for now. We need to up the income and get out of debt. Husband is self employed. We have some college savings we haven’t touched so far  with eldest in 1st year.
Namaste!

Dear Dude, You Survived Cancer,

Challenge every price on every item in your monthly bills. Where possible, eliminate or replace with cheaper substitutes. Cancel subscriptions. Do the balance transfer thing on credit cards but avoid shifting that kind of rotating debt to mortgage(s). This may require a lifestyle overhaul but you would have to do that anyway to retire, yes? I want that you see: equity funds fiscal expansion. Debt only expands. Do a deep-dive research into the word “equity” and the world becomes clearer. Did you come from a poor family? I certainly did. The sacrifices made for the sake of generational progression are no less valid now than they were decades or centuries ago. Regarding your marriage, the basis of all human cooperation is: “you cook, I clean” (I believe the Neanderthals called it “oonga boonga”). It is, ironically, as Aquarian a tenet as there is. As far as an MSW, whatever that is, will that necessarily get you paid more, or guaranteed to get you into a job with health insurance?

Dear PUCA,

Being the assistant to the CEO, as we went through M&A with a financial investment firm, I was (unknowingly) selected for the role of “change agent.”  I find myself caught in an ongoing battle of “let’s keep things the way they are” versus “let’s change and do things differently.”  Our new (majority) shareholders think change is necessary and I agree with them … What I’ve come to discover is, I’m on an island amongst these C-Level suits and everyday they try to sell me on their old way of life.  After 10 years of employment, I am considering jumping ship.  …. May I also add that in the past 3 years, I’ve discovered an innate art talent at my disposal.  (I can draw, paint, etc. which I hadn’t been previously aware).  Given my hesitation to jump all in to the art world, what industries (if any) may be currently exempt from mass mindset changes?

Fondly,

… Bundle of Confusion

Dear BOC,

No industry is completely exempt from anything, especially as currency wars rage (like, right now). That said, I just went through a cycle of modern-psychology-feel-goody “change management” in this office as well (which was followed-up with two good old fashioned execution-style mass firings, and look out below, a third is coming in January). Be as slippery as you’d like to be with the new crew, you never know who you will report to tomorrow. That said, some of the most gruelingly competent artists I’ve ever met draw up advertising graphics and design gift boxes, using software of course. Understand what your artistic medium has to offer you in cash terms before you “jump ship”.

Dear Puca,
I’ve recently turned 30 and am looking for rejuvenation and intellectual joy in my daily work. I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and presently work in social work not by choice but it pays my bills. I’ve been working roughly 7 years jumping companies every 2 years for higher pay. I’m so over the field as i find it to be perpetual boredom and the constant entitlement of people is wearing. I tried entering the medical field I was thinking pediatric but I was a horrible chemistry student and shortly dropped the idea.

Dazzling Scorpio

Dear DS,

Your logic is inverted – your daily work should find you rejuvenated and intellectually joyful. Some people never acknowledge that your emotions need resolutions beyond hitting career targets. Investigate your hunger, hone it. At the root of hunger is a void. What would you fill that void with, if career wasn’t a question?

Dear PUCA,

I am an Artist – I have a Master’s Degree in Studio Art and ‘do my art on the side’ of my day-job which is being an assistant to the owner of a private investment firm in NY.  I have always dreamed of having a career solely in the arts. I’m the kind of dreamer who busts her butt to try to make it happen. I’m also thirty years old now, the age at which I once envisioned myself somewhere more art-specific, I’m not sure how to get *there*. I can’t just give up my dayjob and draw/paint all day to pay the bills (too many bills)…but the few hours at night after work or on the weekends is just not enough time to dedicate to my true passion ( aka drawing fantastical animals and creatures all day every day that will hang in galleries and homes and creating images which will then be printed on items that people buy and use ).  What move do I make? How do I get *there*?

Best,

Emily the Gemini Artiste

Dear EGA,

You are ever and always already *there*. To see this, paradoxically, you may need to remember where you *were*. I suggest going back to your origins armed with psychic measuring tape to assess the evolution since then. Uranus trines your natal Uranus currently so teleportation should not be a problem. Old high school maybe? Also, that trine may indicate how easy it is to feel like an outsider now. Know that your entire generation is under the transit. If you need to balance that feeling, go Saturn and apply your talents towards traditional themes. Draw your own vision of classic tales, if for nobody but yourself. When you play your own game, you always win.

I offer free astrologically-skewed career advice on a one-off basis currently and you may reach me at plutonicuranian@gmail.com.

Like me on facebook under “plutonic uranian”.

When emailing, include a key outer planet placement or aspect (NOT everything) from your astrodienst.com chart or simply tell me your birthday. Your question will be edited for brevity’s sake when I post the response on Mytic Medusa’s pages, but I do need details (my Virgo Moon is my only Earth, so to speak).
