Astronomy historian and psychiatrist William Patrick Sheehan (b. 1954) is a prolific author and the biographer of E. E. Barnard. He has traced the development of early studies of the moon and planets and of the Milky Way, and he has solved several long-standing puzzles in the history of astronomy.
