Named in honor of Clifford (1929–1993) and Jackie (1935– ) Holmes. With his wife Jackie’s backing and support, Cliff was for decades an astronomical observer, organizer and educator. Cliff and Jackie founded the Riverside Telescope Makers’ Conference in 1969; from small beginnings it has become a leading event for amateur astronomers and is known worldwide. After retirement, Cliff began a second career as an educator, teaching astronomy courses at Riverside City College. (M 22830) _ _.
