Jacob Le Maire (1585-1616) was a Dutch explorer who, together with C. W. Schouten, discovered parts of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago and a passage from the south Atlantic to the Pacific known as the Straits of Le Maire, which crosses Cape Horn at the southernmost point of the Americas.
