Plunge is a town in the northwest region of Lithuania with 23~000 inhabitants. First mentioned in 1567 as a town belonging to Zemaitija, or the Samogitian region, it is a native town of Elena Petreikyte-Cerniene, a former teacher of astronomy and the wife of the first discoverer.
