Alex Konopliv (b. 1960), a principal scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is an internationally recognized authority on the determination of gravity fields for those solar-system objects that have tracking data from an orbiting spacecraft. His gravity fields for Mars have supported several spacecraft missions.
