Akisato Yamane (b. 1949), a professional engineer, is also an amateur astronomer who is intrigued by solar eclipses, having observed them in Indonesia in 1983 and in Romania in 1999. He is currently a member of the Tokyo Astronomical Association and Shimane Society of Astronomy.
