Born in Scotland, John Bunting has had experience in geologic field mapping and mineral exploration for more than 30 years, much of it in the remote areas of Western Australia He noted anomalous geologic effects in several places, including the shatter cones at the Shoemaker structure and at Yarrabubba with Francis MacDonald.
