Luigi Chierchia (b. 1957), a professor of mathematical analysis at Rome 3 University, has directed the local unit of the Italian national research project “Nonlinear analysis and variational problems”. His interests include dynamical systems and celestial mechanics. In 1995 he received the prize of the Institut Henri Poincaré.
