Carl Ferdinand Cori (1896-1984) and Gerty Theresa Cori (1896-1957) were American biochemists born in Prague, a husband-and-wife team who studied the hormonal influence on the interconversion of sugars in an animal organism. They won the 1947 Nobel Prize in chemistry. The name was suggested by J. Ticha.
