Yoshiaki Taniguchi (b. 1954) works mainly in extragalactic physics at Tohoku University. He promoted the first mid-infrared deep survey for dust-enshrouded young galaxies at high redshift using the Infrared Space Observatory and an optical deep survey for very-high-redshift galaxies using the Subaru Telescope.
