British yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur (b. 1976) finished second in the Vendee Globe round-the-world race in 2000-2001, the youngest competitor ever to complete the course. On 2005 Feb. 7, with a time of 71.8 days, she broke by 1.1 days the previous record for the fastest single-handed non-stop circumnavigation.
