Full Moon [1 Aquarius 26]

July 24, 2021 (03:37 GMT+1)

There is a significant Full Moon taking place this weekend. Traditionally, Full Moons are a time for celebration. Emotions are heightened and the Full Moon lights up the night sky extending the hours outside of darkness. More time to play and work outside, less sleep.

In the lunar cycle, the Full Moon represents culmination, ripeness, fertility when the light of the Moon is at its brightest. It’s a powerful time to trust your intuition, especially if you have a big decision to make. Full Moons favour ritual, looking at how far you’ve come and deciding what you’re ready to let go of or release.

A Significant Full Moon

This weekend’s Full Moon is especially significant for two reasons. Firstly, it falls at 1 Aquarius, close to the degree of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 0 Aquarius which took place on December 20, 2020.

Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions herald the start of a new 20 year chapter and in Aquarius this is about technology, science, space travel, social reform, themes involving the collective.

Wherever the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction fell in your horoscope, that point is being triggered right now. What’s coming to culmination or completion in your life?

Secondly, this is the first of two Full Moons in Aquarius. This phenomenon happens approximately every couple of years as the Moon cycle shifts in relation to the zodiac. Usually, each Full Moon is in the following star sign and you have one Full Moon in each star sign once a year.

Next month’s Full Moon takes place on August 22nd and falls at 29 Aquarius. Therefore, this month’s Full Moon is at the beginning of the star sign and next month’s Full Moon is at the end of the star sign. There may be a smaller cycle in your life coming to completion in one month’s time.

Leo/Aquarius Axis

When you’re considering a Full Moon, it’s important to note the signs involved. This month and next, the Sun will be in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius, star signs which oppose one another across the zodiac.

You may notice that opposite star signs have a common theme or require some kind of integration. As with all oppositions, you may go too far in one direction, whereas ideally it’s important to be aware of both and consider how you can tend to them equally.

The Sun shines bright in Leo and the essence of Leo is to be at the heart of proceedings, the centre of attention. The big cat of the zodiac thrives when it receives plenty of stroking, accolade and admiration. Leo is a creative sign, so this is about your identity, your unique skills and talents, what makes you ‘you’.

Whereas Aquarius represents the collective rather than the individual. The Sun finds it hard to shine in Aquarius because it has to share the limelight. This isn’t about self-interest. Aquarius represents what’s best for everyone, common goals, a shared mission or purpose.

You may experience issues around fitting in or being an outsider during this Full Moon. Where do you belong, who can you team up with to achieve mutual goals?

Do you find your light is dimmed if you compare yourself unfavourably to others, if other people don’t get who you are, if your contribution goes unwanted? Are you on the outside looking in?

Alternatively, are you ready to shine bright, share your natural talents with the world, make a difference? This is an important time to consider the groups you belong to, your friendships, your associations.

You may decide to leave or move on from one set and find a new group or alliance. As with all oppositions, we can either focus on what divides us or work together to create unity out of polarity.

These themes are already resonant within our society but there may be significant ways how they play out for you personally. It’s an ideal Full Moon to ask those all-important questions, ‘Who am I and where do I belong?’
