Jan Zajíc (1950–1969) was a Czech student who burned himself to death on 1969 Feb. 25 in Wenceslas Square, Prague, as a protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia the previous August. His hope for a democratic Czechoslovakia came true some 20 years after his death. (M 43383) _ _.
